Styling a Basic Tee and Jeans

My closet consists mostly of basic pieces.  I love the comfort of a lightweight t-shirt paired with a pair of dark wash jeans (or who am I kidding – most of the time I’m wearing leggings).  Either way, basic pieces are a go-to for me.  They require no thought in the morning and they always look great.  Sometimes, I feel that the basic pieces need a little bit of oomph to amp up a look, especially if I plan on leaving the house.  The easiest way to do that is to add some statement jewelry.  The look is still casual, although slightly more put together.

Personally, I love the statement jewelry from J. Crew or J. Crew Factory.  I have multiple pieces from both stores and they are so pretty.  Not to mention if you shop at J. Crew Factory in stores or online, their merchandise is always a fraction of the cost!

Side note: As my husband was taking pictures for this post, neither him nor I noticed that my necklace was half backwards the whole time.  After we got home and were looking through the pictures, I asked my husband why he didn’t tell me that my necklace was backwards.  He replied saying that he thought it was supposed to look like that – ha!  Here’s what the necklace should have looked like:
