To save or not to save on lipstick?

My favorite makeup product by far is lipstick. It can take a look in so many different directions and can even change an outfit to look more casual or dressed up, depending on the color. My mom has been telling me for years that I could practically open my own store with the amount of lip products I own! In my opinion, you can never have too many lipsticks!

The real question is, do you save on lipsticks and go the drugstore route, or splurge and buy a higher end product? I think this depends on the type of lipstick that you are looking for and what effect you want to achieve at the end. For me, liquid lipsticks are one of my favorites because they last ALL DAY LONG and rarely budge. This is great for days at work when you don’t have time to touch up your makeup or days where you have a lot going on. Some of my favorites (shown below) won’t even move after eating a meal or drinking! For liquid lipsticks, I tend to choose higher-end products. They last longer, don’t flake off, and look great hours after you applied your lipstick!

Favorite liquid lipsticks (shown above):
Kat Von D – Love Sick
Smashbox – Babe Alert
BareMinerals – Swag

For regular lipsticks where you want a lot of color payoff but don’t necessarily care how long it lasts, I say drugstore or high end will do the trick. Some of my regular lippies from the drugstore last just as long as my higher end ones! Depending on the color, you can probably find what you are looking for at the drugstore.

Favorite regular lipsticks:
Nars – Anna
Revlon – Coralberry
Milani – Plumrose

If you go for a more natural look and prefer a sheer wash of color, I would suggest drugstore products all the way. Sheer lippies are not long lasting and shouldn’t have a lot of pigmentation, so why spend more money when you can get the same product for less?

Here is my favorite sheer lipstick:
Revlon – Kissable Pink
